Mr. Subodh P. Deo, a civil servant for almost 22 years, demitted office in 2013 and was then retained as Partner and Head of Competition law practice at Sai Krishna & Associates, a law firm, situated in the National Capital Region of Delhi. He joined KBD Partners as a Partner in 2025.
Prior to seeking voluntary retirement at the prime of his career, Mr. Deo worked as Additional Director General under the erstwhile MRTP Act, and thereafter, as Additional Director General under the Competition Act 2002. He thus has the unique experience of having applied the enforcement provisions of both the erstwhile MRTP Act and the Competition Act.
Apart from competition law practice, Mr. Deo also practices in the field of Consumer Protection laws and Insolvency and Bankruptcy laws. Of late, his practice has expanded to advising clients related to challenges emanating from environment and sustainability issues.
Mr. Deo’s enforcement, advisory and contentious practice experience spans a wide range of sectors and industries, such as, Drugs & Pharmaceuticals, Aviation, FMCG, Mining, Petroleum, Sugar, Glass, Publishing, Ports, Real Estate, Hollywood/Bollywood film exhibition, Beer & Alcohol, thermal power, wind energy, telecommunication and mobile, POS Card Industry, Online platforms, Tech companies etc.
