History
Origin
LAWorld was founded in London in 1997 by a group of nine senior law firms with direct partner involvement, each a member of the International Bar Association, who recognised that their internationally active clients needed fast, trusted access to quality legal expertise beyond their own borders.
Growth
By 1999, LAWorld had welcomed members from the Americas and AsiaPacific. Today: 70 firms, 100+ cities, access to 4000 lawyers. Members have generated $13 million in reported referrals over the last four years. LAWorld Ltd is registered in the UK, with an Executive Office in Europe.
How the Network Works
Annual conference, annual regional meetings, practice groups, member mentoring programmes, women’s law group, NextGen young lawyer programme, and active involvement in global legal conferences including IBA and INTA. These are the foundation of personal relationships maintained across three decades. Firms do not join and leave. The stay.
