Matthijs was sworn in as ‘advocaat’ in Holland in 1996 and began his career at Van der Steenhoven advocaten. In 2005 he became one of the equity partners of the firm. Matthijs advises mainly medium and large sized companies in the field of employment law, employee participation, (international) contract law and liability and insurance law. He also is an experienced litigator. He is an active member of the French Chamber of Commerce in The Netherlands, where he regulary gives lectures. For several years now he has been a teacher in the professional education programme for lawyers. His practice is internationally orientated and he speaks French and English fluently and the German and Italian languages competently.
