Adrienne Fowler helps communications and tech companies navigate the maze of federal, state, and international regulations related to consumer protection, privacy, and data security.

Adrienne is a partner in HWG’s Washington, DC office, where she co-chairs HWG’s data protection practice. Adrienne focuses on helping communications and tech companies shape the U.S. legal landscape surrounding privacy and cybersecurity, as well as providing clients with actionable compliance and risk mitigation advice. Adrienne’s practice also extends to consumer protection regulation of the tech and communications sectors, including net neutrality, content moderation, the accessibility of technology for individuals with disabilities, online advertising, and FDA regulation of mobile apps and connected devices.

Adrienne takes an expansive perspective on clients’ consumer protection, privacy, and data security regulatory strategies, based on extensive experience with the consumer protection arms of a wide variety of regulators and enforcement agencies, including the FCC, FTC, HHS-OCR, CPSC, and FBI.

Before entering private practice, Adrienne was a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Consumer Protection Branch, where she received a special commendation for outstanding service and handled high-profile tech-related regulatory enforcement cases.

Adrienne is a certified privacy professional (CIPP/US). Super Lawyers has ranked her as a “Rising Star.” She previously served as co-chair of the Federal Communications Bar Association’s data privacy committee, data privacy symposium co-chair for the American Bar Association’s Forum on Communications Law, and ABA observer to the Uniform Law Commission’s study committee on the development of uniform data privacy legislation.
